Aaj Tak’s OSINT team has prepared some high-government maps of floods by analyzing the Sentinel-1 satellite data, which has made the accurate identity of flood-affected areas possible. Many states of the country are in the grip of floods with the onset of monsoon. Heavy rains and floods have been seen in various parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh (South and West India) and Haryana (North India).
India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued new weather alerts on June 25, as the monsoon has gained momentum across the country. There are reports of heavy rains, lightning and strong winds from Gujarat to Haryana, Telangana and Maharashtra. Sudden floods, landslides and large -scale waterlogging have been seen in many states.
Gujarat, Telangana and Maharashtra submerged in water
The analysis of Aaj Tak’s Osint team analyzed the Sentinel-1 SAR (synthetic aperture radar) data showed that large parts of Gujarat, Telangana and Maharashtra are submerged in water. Due to limited satellite coverage in the western districts of Gujarat- Kutch, Morbi, Jamnagar and Devbhoomi Dwarka- flood conditions are clearly seen. Remote sensing data has confirmed moderate to heavy floods in these areas.
According to the IMD report, there is also serious flood situation in the eastern districts of the state- Surat, Nandod, Dahod, Chhota Udaipur, Panchmahal, Valsad and Tapi. Due to heavy rains, the Tapi river and its auxiliary streams are in spate, causing waterlogging in the low -lying areas. Many villages have been completely submerged in water and flood -like conditions have arisen.
Heavy rain in Haryana in last 48 hours
A lot of rainfall has been recorded in Kurukshetra district of Haryana. During the last 48 hours, Kurukshetra district of Haryana recorded a lot of rainfall, while Nandod and Lunawada areas of Gujarat received heavy rains. In many areas, the rivers crossed the danger mark, forcing the local administration to take people from the lower areas to safe places.
Surat recorded 346 mm (13.6 in) rainfall in 24 hours till 6 am on Tuesday morning, and 66 mm (2.6 in) and rain in the next 12 hours. Municipal Commissioner Shalini Aggarwal has given this information. Nashik, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Amravati and Yavatmal districts of Maharashtra have also received moderate to heavy rains.
Flood situation has arisen in Krishna and Godavari river valleys in Telangana, especially Nalgonda, Adilabad and Nizamabad districts.
