Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said in an interview to Al Jazeera that Pakistan has no information about the hideout of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) leader Masood Azhar. He claimed that if India shares reliable evidence that Azhar is in Pakistan, it will be arrested.
It is worth noting that Bilawal Bhutto’s party is involved in Pakistan’s ruling coalition. Responding to a question, Bhutto said, “If the Indian government shares information with us that it is on Pakistani land, then we are fully ready to arrest him. But India has not shared anything like that till now.”
Claim to be in Afghanistan
Bhutto also claimed that Azhar might be in Afghanistan, as he has been active in Afghan jihad. Referring to the return of Western countries and the Taliban’s return to power, he said, “If NATO could not catch him in Afghanistan, it is not practical to expect Pakistan to do so.”

This statement came at a time when India recently demolished the terrorist bases in Pakistan under “Operation Sindoor”. The Indian Army also attacked Jaish-e-Mohammed’s Bahawalpur base and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s headquarters. Azhar claimed that 10 of his family and 4 companions were killed in India’s action.
New York Times report rejected
When he was asked about the opening of Hafiz Saeed by citing the New York Times report, Bhutto clearly said, “This is factually wrong. Hafiz Saeed is in Pakistan’s custody.”
Bhutto said that under international anti-terrorism cooperation, all countries should share a list of suspects with each other. He said that attacks in London, New York and Pakistan have been stopped in this way.
