Mayawati on Waqf Bill – ‘… then BSP will stand firmly with the Muslim community, Mayawati’s statement on WAQF Bill, target the government

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Friday criticized the Central Government for the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, saying that this bill should have been introduced only after removing the concerns and doubts of the people.

His remarks came after the passage of the bill in the Rajya Sabha late Thursday night. A day before this, it was approved in the Lok Sabha, where the opposition strongly opposed it.

Mayawati posted on X in Hindi, “After listening to both the ruling party and the opposition in Parliament on the Waqf Amendment Bill, it has been concluded that it would have been better if the Central Government had given more time to people to understand the bill and resolved all their concerns before bringing it forward.”

The BSP chief expressed disappointment over the government’s “haste” in passing the bill. He said, “It is unfortunate that the government introduced and passed this bill in a hurry, which is not appropriate. Now that it has passed, if the governments misuse it, the BSP will stand firmly with the Muslim community. In other words, the party does not support this bill.”

Let us tell you that after several hours of discussion in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, the Waqf Amendment Bill passed. In the Rajya Sabha, 95 votes were cast in protest against the bill and the bill cast 128 votes. Earlier, the Waqf Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. After passing the bill from both houses, the bill will now be sent to the President. After the President’s approval, this bill will take the appearance of the law.

On the other hand, the opposition was accusing the Modi government that through this bill the government wants to confiscate the property of Waqf. At the same time, the BJP claims that the opposition is misleading Muslims for its political gains.
