Amit Kishore, a resident and businessman of Vasundhara in Ghaziabad, has opened a legal front by making serious allegations against the Municipal Corporation. It is alleged that due to the negligence of the municipal corporation and corruption in the cleaning of the drains, their Mercedes car got caught in deep waterlogging and was badly damaged. After this incident, he sent a legal notice to Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik and demanded compensation and corrective action.

In fact, this case is on the morning of 23 July 2025 when a situation of waterlogging arose on Sahibabad to Vasundhara road after heavy rains. Amit Kishore was going to Vasundhara from Lajpat Nagar in Sahibabad police station area by his Mercedes car, when his car got stuck in deep water. The water level was so high that the car stopped and severe mechanical and electronic damage. Later, the car was removed from the crane and sent to the service center of Noida, where the repair cost about 5 lakh rupees.

Businessman Amit Kishore, through his advocate Prem Prakash, has demanded an additional Rs 5 lakh compensation for repair expenses in the notice sent to the Municipal Commissioner. Along with this, there has also been a demand for improvement in drainage system and regular cleaning of drains in Sahibabad, Vasundhara and surrounding areas. In the notice, the Municipal Corporation has expressed reply and action from the Municipal Corporation within 15 days. It has been warned that if a satisfactory reply is not received, a complaint will be made on the High Court, Lokayukta and other legal forums.

Ghaziabad

Amit Kishore says that this fight is not only for the loss of his car, but the failure of the civil system and administrative accountability. He said ‘When we pay tax, we should get a safe and clean city’. His lawyer Prem Prakash also warned the Municipal Corporation that this is an issue of public interest and negligence will no longer be tolerated.

Municipal corporation rejected allegations

At the same time, the Municipal Corporation has described these allegations as politically motivated and factless. The corporation issued a statement saying that Amit Kishore is a ‘professional complainant’ and this is all effort to tarnish the image of the Municipal Corporation. He claimed that the vehicle was of Delhi number and waterlogging is not even visible in his pictures. Also, no evidence has been given to connect the car malfunction with rain.

Ghaziabad

The Municipal Corporation further said that despite the record rains, cleaning of drains, drone monitoring and pump sets were arranged in time, causing the least waterlogging compared to other cities of NCR in Ghaziabad. According to the corporation, continuous urbanization and illegal construction have created pressure on the drains but they are taking all possible measures.
