Hindu in Bangladesh: In Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka, Hindu junk businessman Lal Chand Sohag was brutally beaten to death. After the incident, there has been a wave of anger across the country. This murder has taken place at a time when the interim government of the country has been questioning the safety of minorities.

Forcibly recoverrs gave painful death
Some people who forcibly recovering in front of the Mitford Hospital in the old Dhaka surrounded Lal Chand and brutally beat him with a concrete slab, killing him on the spot. In the viral video, the attackers were also seen dancing on their body, which made the atmosphere even more tense.

Students protested on the streets
Students from several universities of Dhaka demonstrated on Saturday against the incident. Students of BRAC University, East West University, NSU and Government Eden College took out a rally, while the protest started as soon as the video went viral at Dhaka University and Jagannath University. The students asked the government- ‘When the forced recoverys are doing violence openly, what is the interim government doing?’

Police action, 7 accused arrested
The Dhaka police have arrested 7 people in the murder case, out of which two have also found illegal weapons. Lal Chand’s sister Manjuara Begum (42) has registered a case of murder at the Kotwali police station, in which 19 named accused as well as 15–20 unidentified assailants have also been made accused. The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) raided Netrokona district in the early hours of Sunday and arrested two brothers Sajib and Rajib. Due to which the number of people arrested increased to 7.

BNP workers suspect of murder
According to the report of the first ALO newspaper, the Yuva Morcha workers of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) are suspected of killing Lal Chand. It was also said in the report that Lal Chand had been a member of this organization. BNP clarified that four workers involved in the lynching have been immediately expelled from the party.
