Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) President Mohsin Naqvi has been made the new chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Naqvi will replace Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva. Naqvi will continue in this post for 2 years.

On Thursday, ACC had an online annual meeting. After which the change in leadership was told. The T20 Asia Cup is also to be held in September this year.

ACC released official statement The ACC released the official statement after the meeting on Thursday and said, Pakistan has defeated Sri Lanka and took over the post of ACC President. Pakistan will now work to increase cricket in Asia. With Pakistan, there will be an attempt to bring cricket in Asia in a new direction.

First challenge in front of Naqvi to do Asia Cup The first major challenge as ACC chairman in front of Mohsin Naqvi will be this year’s Mains Asia Cup. The tournament was to be held in September hosted in India. However, now the tournament will be played on neutral venue due to political relations between India and Pakistan.

Only Naqvi will decide in which country the tournament will be held. Apart from India and Pakistan, 4 more teams will participate. The UAE may have a tournament, but Sri Lanka also remains in the host race. Keeping in mind the neutral venue, media rights of the Asia Cup were sold last month.
