Ravi shastri on icc revanue share: Former India cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri has raised questions about the revenue distribution of the International Cricket Council (ICC). They believe that India is a big market and maximum earnings are due to India, so India should get a bigger share of ICC earnings.
What did Ravi Shastri say?
During a conversation with Wisden Cricket, Ravi Shastri said, ‘India should get a bigger share of the total revenue of ICC. When India ever plays abroad, then there is manifold in TV rights and earnings. This proves the figures of earnings from TV. Therefore, it would be absolutely justified to say that they get a large part of their share ‘.
He said, most of the money that comes from India comes from India. It all depends on the economy. If tomorrow another country’s economy becomes stronger than India, then the money will come from there. As it used to be in the 70s and 80s, a large part of the earnings used to go to another country. Therefore, it is justified to ask for a bigger part for India.
How much does India get now?
ICC gets 38.5 percent of the earnings in the 2024-2027 cycle. This part is the highest in any other 12 full -time member team. India is the only country that gets double digit percentage of ICC revenue.
India, England and Australia get the highest revenue from the ICC. However, England and Australia do not get a share of revenue compared to India. They are quite low.
