India’s intelligence agencies have got a big input. In fact, Masood Azhar, the head of Jaish-e-Mohammed and the most wanted terrorist of India, is hidden in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan occupied by Pakistan. This place is about 1000 km from its old stronghold Bahawalpur, which has increased the concern of the security agencies.
Earlier, former Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had said that Azhar could be in Afghanistan. He had given the statement, “If the Government of India gives information that it is in Pakistan, then we are ready to arrest him.” But now the new information that has come out weakens this claim and brings the position of Pakistan internationally and in the question.
Mastermind of Pathankot and Pulwama attacks
Terrorist Masood Azhar is considered the mastermind of the 2016 Pathankot airbase attack and the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, in which more than 40 CRPF personnel were killed. India has strong evidence against him and the United Nations has already declared him an international terrorist.
Jaish-e-Mohammed spreading confusion
Meanwhile, on the online platforms of Jaish-e-Mohammed, an attempt is being made to show Masood Azhar’s old audio messages again that he is still present in Bahawalpur, but intelligence sutras consider these claims to be misleading.
Why is Gilgit-Baltistan important?
Gilgit-Baltistan is the region which is very important strategically. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) also passes through here. In such a situation, the presence of Masood Azhar can make the region more unstable.
India-Pakistan relations may affect
If the presence of Masood Azhar is confirmed, then it can open the poll of anti -terrorism claims of Pakistan. India has already demanded to hand over this terrorist from Pakistan on many international forums. Now after the revelations of this new location, the pressure on Pakistan can increase further.
What will be the next strategy?
Indian intelligence agencies are now keeping a close watch on its activities. At the same time, the question is also arising whether Pakistan will actually take steps for his arrest or will once again resort to excuses.
