The matter of giving 27 percent reservation to other backward classes from 14 percent to other backward classes in MP will be heard in the Supreme Court today. Earlier on June 25, the Supreme Court ordered the MP government to present the reply in this case today i.e. by July 4.

In the Supreme Court, the petitioner of the OBC category has urged the implementation of the law passed by the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 2019. Which increased OBC reservation in public employment and educational institutions from 14% to 27%. However, it could not be implemented in the state. What happened so far in terms of OBC reservation
- In 2019, the Congress government led by Kamal Nath increased OBC reservation from 14% to 27%, causing total reservation to 63%.
- High Court stay: Madhya Pradesh High Court kept this increase in PG Medical Entrance Examination.
- Supreme Court Intervention: In 2024, all the petitions in the case were transferred from the High Court to the Supreme.
- The recruitment procedures are currently running on 87:13 formulas due to the pending case of this case. Until the Supreme Court gives a final decision.
SC will decide whether there will be a violation of reservation limit or not Today, the Supreme Court will decide whether the reservation limit of 50% in the Constitution will be violated by the implementation of 27% reservation. Or should the reservation be asked to implement immediately, because there is no legal ban for this?
