Five supporters of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena were detained on Saturday for attacking businessman Sushil Kedia’s office at Worli. Kedia posted on social media, in which he had said to not learn Marathi and say ‘what to do’ to Raj Thackeray.
A few hours after the attack, Kedia apologized for a post on social media. Kedia said that he had uploaded the post in the wrong mental state due to pressure and stress and they want to improve it after realizing their mistake.
Raj Thackeray praised
Kedia said that he has been living in Mumbai for 30 years, yet he has not been able to get that level information in Marathi language as a local person. Therefore, they use Marathi only in informal environment. In the video, Kedia also stated that he is appreciated by Raj Thackeray’s strong stand on issues like Hindutva and nationalism, especially during the Hanuman Chalisa campaign.
Violence on not speaking Marathi
In fact, recently there was a controversy about imposing Hindi language and three language policy in schools. Meanwhile, violence took place with some people for not speaking Marathi. In this background, Kedia expressed his displeasure and challenged Raj Thackeray on social media.
Stones at Kedia’s office
MNS activists protested and threw stones and coconut at Kedia’s office, whose video went viral on social media. The security personnel and employees present on the spot failed to stop the attack.
Security of Kedia’s office increased
The police have detained 5 MNS supporters involved in the attack and they are being questioned. The police had already increased the security of Kedia’s office as there was heavy opposition on social media after his post.
