People continued to face problems due to long traffic jams on the highway.

More than 50 cars, trucks and other vehicles were punctured on the Mumbai-Nagpur Samriddhi Highway. Due to this, there was a long jam on the highway and people remained stranded on the highway throughout the night. All the vehicles were passing over the iron board lying on the road.

The incident took place on December 29 at around 10 pm between Malegaon and Vanoja toll plazas in Washim district. Cars and trucks passing through here suddenly started getting punctured. Police said whether the board fell accidentally or was thrown intentionally is being investigated.

Actually, questions have been raised on the safety of the high-speed corridor of Samriddhi Highway for a long time. In June, 6 people were killed and 4 were injured in a collision between two cars near Kadwanchi village on the highway in Jalna district.

Three phases of Samriddhi Highway have been commissioned and the fourth phase will be commissioned in 2025.

A video of cracks on the highway was revealed Earlier on July 11, Congress had shared the video of cracks on Samriddhi Highway. Congress had written – Within a year, a 50 feet long 3 cm wide crack was seen near Maliwada Interchange near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The highway was opened for traffic last year. Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), the road construction authority, had claimed that M-40 grade cement has been used for the Samruddhi Highway and no potholes will be seen on the road for almost 20 years.

On August 2 this year, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) had approved 8 new National High Speed Corridor projects in a meeting held in New Delhi. Under this project, one 8 lane, three 6 lane and four four lane roads will be built. These projects will boost connectivity in the country.
