Rabin Mishra, father of Monojo Mishra, the main accused of gangrape at South Calcutta Law College, Kolkata, said that if his son is found guilty, he should be punished with severe punishment according to the law. He said that this incident is very sad. The matter is currently under investigation. I have full faith in the law. Whatever punishment will be decided under the law, it should be given.

Rabin Mishra said that the Kolkata Police is very capable and I am confident that the investigation will be done correctly. However, he also told that his son is no longer with him and is not in touch with him. He said that my elderly mother is at home and Manjit’s mother is very ill, but Manjit is no longer in this house and she does not have much contact with me. He also claimed that my son has been a victim of the internal politics of the college. He has been implicated. I am very sad due to such serious allegations on him.

Explain that the confidential statement of the victim was recorded in Alipur court on Saturday before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM). During this time there was a tight security system and in the presence of police officers, the victim was taken out of the court.

After the statement was recorded, the victim was taken to the hospital for medical surveillance and consultation. Medico-legal investigation has been completed in this case. The doctors have confirmed the evidence of forceful sexual relations.

According to the police, the victim had lodged a complaint with the Kasba police station, after which the police have arrested the three accused- Monous Mishra (alumni), Pramit Mukherjee and Jab Ahmed (current student).
