The DRDO and the Indian Navy successfully tested the Naval Anti-Ship missile (NASM-SR) from the Integrated Test range in Chandipur. The missile was tested on 25 February, using the Naval Cicing helicopter. The missile hit the target of the small ship directly, which also gave evidence of the success of the man-in-loop feature of the missile.

Indigenous Imaging Infra-Red Sikar was used for the terminal guide of missile made by Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). The test of high bandwidth two-way data link system was also successful, which gives the pilot live images of target, which can lead to accurate target.

Missile specialty

The missile was launched in the ‘Bering-online lock-on after launch’ mode, which has the ability to select one of the several targets. During the Test, the missile locked a large target, but in the terminal phase, the pilot had chosen a small hidden target, which was very accurately hit.

Use of indigenous equipment

The missile uses electro-mechanical attesters, thermal batteries and PCB warheads for indigenous fiber optic gyroscope based Ins, Radio Ultter, Aerodynamic and Jet van control.
