The mystery of a double murder in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra was finally solved by the police within 24 hours on Thursday. In this case, the dead bodies of an elderly woman and her son were found in the house. Now the police have arrested two 19-year-old youths for the murder of a 70-year-old woman and her son in Kamote.

Giving information about this case, Navi Mumbai police officer told PTI that Geeta Bhushan Jaggi and her son Jitendra (45) were found dead in their house in Sector 6 on Wednesday evening. After this, local police and crime branch teams started investigation from different angles.

The police officer said that investigation revealed that two persons had come to the residential complex with Jitendra. After this, both of them attacked and killed the 70-year-old woman and her son. Based on information, police arrested 19-year-old Sanjyot Mangesh Dodke and Shubham Mahindra Narayani from Ulwe.

The police officer further said that both the accused knew Jitendra, who had called them for a party on the night of 31 December. After drinking alcohol, Jitendra tried to have sexual relations with both the accused. Due to which both the youths got angry and they attacked Jitendra with the extension board. After this he strangled Geeta Jaggi.

The police officer said that from there the accused Dodke and Narayani fled from the house with the victims’ mobile phones, purses, tabs and jewellery. The officer said that the double murder was solved in less than 24 hours of the case being registered under the Indian Judicial Code.

A police officer had earlier said that relatives who came to the house on Wednesday evening found the door locked from inside and there was no response from the mother and son, following which they informed the police.

The police officer said that when police and fire personnel entered the house, there was a smell of LPG in the house. Because the gas knob was on, the woman and her son were found dead in the bedroom.
