The long-standing uncertainty about the Asia Cup seems to be gradually changing gradually. Due to tension between India and Pakistan, the tournament on which the clouds of crisis were hovering, now positive signs are being received about its event. As of now no official announcement has been made so far, but there are indications that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) may take a formal decision next week. According to Cricbuzz report, the program of Asia Cup 2025 is expected to be announced in the first week of July.
Tournament can start from 10 September
If everything goes on according to the plan, then this tournament in T20 format can start from the second week of September i.e. September 10. This time also six teams – India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and UAE – will participate. Promotional activities have also started.

UAE ahead of hosting
The UAE remains at the forefront of hosting this tournament. However, hybrid models are also being discussed, in which some matches can be played in different countries. This time India has been declared a host country, but the ACC has already decided that when India or Pakistan gets hosting, the tournament will be held on neutral venue, which does not affect political circumstances.
The crisis was due to previous incidents
The crisis on the Asia Cup deepened after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April, after which India ran Operation Sindoor against Pakistan. This raised questions on the future of the tournament. Many sections in India also demanded a boycott of Pakistan. Anyway, bilateral series is not played between India and Pakistan.

The atmosphere changed due to ICC announcements
However, recently the ICC announced programs of two big women tournaments. Women’s ODI Cup (in India and Sri Lanka) and Women’s T20 World Cup (in England). India-Pakistan matches have been kept in these two. One on 5 October in Colombo and the other on 14 June in Edgbaston, England.
India-Pakistan matches are the highest revenue in the cricket world. Although BCCI does not have dependence on these, these matches are very important for the financial health of ICC, ACC and other members boards.
