Ngt hearing on sangam water: The case of polluted water at the confluence of Prayagraj was heard in the NGT on Wednesday (February 19, 2025). The NGT questioned the UP government on the matter and also expressed displeasure. At the same time, the UP government has assured the NGT that it will take action on the CPCB report. The next hearing of the case will be held on 28 February.
During the hearing, the lawyer of the UP government said that the CPCB has not submitted a test report. UPPCB has also filed a report and has presented its side. On this, NGT asked if the UP government is questioning the CPCB report?
What did the UP government say in the NGT?
The lawyer said that the UP government wants the CPCB to submit a Test report along with its report. The NGT said that it is the responsibility of the UP government to keep the river water clean. The NGT questioned the UP government and said that you filed a long wide answer but there is no mention of coliform anywhere. The NGT said that the report is detailed, but it does not mention all the parameters related to the cleaning of Ganga Yamuna.
UPPCB claims that from where the CPCB took the sample of Ganga Yamuna, water was polluted, but from where we took samples, the water was clean. NGT got angry on this matter. The UP government assured the NGT that it will take action on the CPCB report. UPPCB Ganga will file the latest report in a week about the quality of water in Yamuna.
