- Nia to probe bajrang dal leader Suhas Shetty’s Murder in Karnataka; PFI links suspended

Suhas Shetty was murdered on 1 May in Mangaluru.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will now investigate the murder case of Suhas Shetty, the Bajrang Dal leader in Karnataka and the main accused in the 2022 Fazil murder case. The Union Home Ministry has handed over the investigation to the NIA in view of the seriousness of this targeted killing.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the wires of the murder accused are associated with the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI). Officials say the purpose of this murder was to spread fear and terror among the people. The NIA will soon file a case and start investigation.
Suhas Shetty was murdered on 1 May in Mangaluru. Since then, tension had spread in the area. The police have arrested 16 people in this case so far. These include Abdul Safwan, Niaz, Mohammad Muzammil, Khalandar Shafi, Adil Mehruf, Nagraj, Ranjit and Rizwan.

16 arrested including Abdul Razak who hid the attackers
The police have so far arrested 16 people in this case. These include 59 -year -old Abdul Razak, the father of the main accused Mohammad Muzammil and the father -in -law of the second accused Nausad Vamanjur alias Chhote Nausad. According to the police, Razak participated in the murder conspiracy and helped the accused hide.
Demonstrations were held in Mangaluru city to protest against the murder.
Who is Suhas Shetty?
On the night of May 1, Suhas was going by car with his five companions, when the attackers in two cars stopped the way. Out of this, 6 attackers attacked Suhas with swords and sharp weapons. The seriously injured Shetty was brought to the hospital nearby, where he was declared dead.
In fact, 42 -year -old Suhas Shetty was one of the main accused in the 2022 famous Fazil murder. He was the leader of the Bajrang Dal and was a special face of Karnataka politics for a long time.
