Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar responded to the claims of the ceasefire raised by the opposition. Jaishankar said that US President Donald Trump has no role in ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He said that there has been no talk between PM Modi and Trump between April 22 to June 17.
S Jaishankar said in the Lok Sabha, ‘There was no direct talk between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Trump from 22 April to 17 June. On 22 April, Trump spoke to PM Modi after the Pahalgam attack and on June 17, during Modi’s visit to Canada, both of them had a phone call.
190 countries supported India: Jaishankar
Dismissing the opposition’s claims of India not getting support from abroad after the Pahalgam attack, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said that out of 193 members of the United Nations, all except Pakistan and three other countries supported Operation Sindoor.
Pakistan was required to give strict message: Foreign Minister
Speaking on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, Jaishankar denied the opposition’s allegations on China’s support to Pakistan and said that the partnership of the two countries has been going on since 60 years of Congress. The Foreign Minister said in the House, ‘It was necessary to give a clear message to Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack. If our boundaries were crossed, it was necessary to give the message that the results would not be good.
India will not tolerate terrorism at all: Jaishankar
Referring to diplomatic decisions like postponing the Indus Water Treaty after the attack, he said that India’s reply did not stop after these initial steps. He said that India gave a clear message by creating global discourse and diplomatic atmosphere that it has a policy of not tolerating terrorism and will protect its people.
Jaishankar said that being a member of Pakistan’s United Nations Security Council (UNSC), it was difficult for India to get support in this platform, but after looking at the April 25 statement of the Security Council, it was strongly condemned by the Pahalgam attack. He said that only three except Pakistan opposed Operation Sindoor out of 193 member countries of the United Nations.
India did not bow down to nuclear blackmailing: Foreign Minister
The Foreign Minister said that during this time the country did not accept any external arbitration and did not bow down to nuclear blackmailing. He said that the Pahalgam attack on international forums like ‘Quad’ and ‘BRICS’ was also strongly condemned. Jaishankar said that on July 17, the US declared the ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF) as a global terrorist, which took responsibility for the Pahalgam attack. The decision came in the backdrop of extradition of Tahawwur Rana, accused of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.
France, Germany and EU took a stand against terrorism: Jaishankar
He replied to some questions of the opposition and said, ‘This is the success of our diplomacy. A glimpse of our drastic steps also appeared in other countries and France, Germany and the European Union took a stand against terrorism. The Foreign Minister said that according to Prime Minister Modi’s promise, our armed forces responded to Pakistan and thwarted its attacks.
There is no issue related to business in conversation with America
He said that pictures of satellite are available to prove it. On May 10, many phone calls came and it was told that Pakistan is ready to ceasefire. We said that this request should be received from Pakistan through DGMO. He clarified that during this time there was no issue related to business in a conversation with America.
Amit Shah agitated by opposition uproar
During this, on the Totakatoki of the members of the opposition, Home Minister Amit Shah said, ‘We object that the members of the opposition are not relying on the statement of the Foreign Minister who became a member, rely on the statements of other countries. So they are sitting in opposition and are about to sit there for 20 years.
Jaishankar said on some allegations of the opposition that after the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, the then UPA government and the Prime Minister of Pakistan in Sharm Al Sheikh said that terrorism is a threat to both countries. He said, ‘The government which destroyed the terrorist camps in Bahawalpur and MuridK and took so many steps against terrorism, people of the opposition are asking questions.’
What did the Foreign Minister say on a visit to China?
Jaishankar took a dig at the opposition to surround the government on China’s support for Pakistan and said that the Pak-China partnership has been going on for 60 years. On the opposition attacks on his visit to China, he said, ‘I went to China to clear my stand regarding reducing stress. I did not go to see the secret agreement and the Olympics.
Taking a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, he said that he thought it appropriate to take information from the Chinese Ambassador instead of the country on Doklam. The Foreign Minister said that today, whether the border with Pakistan or the border with China, the Indian Army is completely ready.
The challenge of cross -border terrorism still persists
He said, ‘The border was ignored for 60 years. A lot of work has been done in the last ten years and a lot has to be done. Jaishankar said that the challenge of cross-border terrorism is still intact and India has made it clear that terrorism and conversation cannot run together, blood and water cannot flow together.
