North East Development: Union Minister Prahlad Joshi during his visit to Tripura described the North-Eastern region as the priority of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that since Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014, the ‘Act East’ policy has been on the top of the government’s agenda. During his two-day visit to Tripura, he reviewed the progress of various flagship programs of the PM and reiterated the government’s commitment towards the development of the region.

While talking to ANI, Joshi said, “Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the target of ‘Act East’ has been set for the North-Eastern region. Under this, all the cabinet ministers visit the North-Eastern states. An ongoing campaign for nurses in this region is underway. Special plans also have to be reviewed.” Praising Chief Minister Manik Saha, he said that under his leadership the schemes are being implemented in an excellent manner.

Discussion on local issues with Tripura government

The minister discussed some local issues during the meetings with the Tripura government. “The Chief Minister, his ministers and officials drew attention to some problems. Some of these were resolved immediately while the remaining issues would be addressed after discussion with the concerned ministries,” he said.

Prahlad Joshi targeted Congress

Joshi accused the previous Congress governments of ignoring the area. He said, “North-East is more important from our strategic point of view, but in the last 70-75 years, the Congress government has done very little work here. The PM has sent us here so that we can complete the incomplete development work.” Emphasizing the government’s commitment to the development of the region, he said that the aim of the present government is to take every scheme to the public.
