According to an eyewitness, the reason for the stampede was not the attack of monkeys, but the police and home guards were to run sticks. Initially, it was informed that there was a lot of crowd in the Awasaneshwar Mahadev temple. During Jalabhishek, some monkeys jumped on the cantonment tin in the temple. Due to which the electric wire broke and fell on the tin shed. As soon as the wire fell, the current shed spread from it, which caused the people present there to panic and caused a stampede.
But everyone injured in this accident has made a big claim. The injured admitted to the district hospital said that the stampede was not the attack/disturbance of the monkeys, but the police and home guards were to run sticks. The injured include Sandhya, Palak, Arjun Rajput etc., who have been admitted to Barabanki District Hospital for better treatment. The accident took place around 2 pm. Whether or not there were monkeys at that time, it is a matter of investigation.

He said in a conversation with ‘Aaj Tak’ that “the accident has happened due to the mistake of the police and the home guard. Orders have been ordered and action will be taken against the culprits.”
On the other hand, CM Yogi has taken cognizance of this accident. The CM has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the dead. At the same time, he has instructed the injured officials to immediately reach the hospital and instruct the officers of the district administration for their proper treatment.
