Now there will be no fear of ‘slipping’, this safety feature will be available in all two-wheelers! Government is bringing new rule – New Rule Motorcycle or Scooter all two wheelers to come with abs from next year dealers will give double helmet too

ABS Mandatory Rule for two wheelers: Safety of two -wheeler drivers on the road has always been a big challenge. But now the government is doing new planning for this. In view of the safety of people in increasing road accidents in the country, the government is preparing to make a new safety feature mandatory in two -wheelers. From next year, there is a plan to make anti-lock braking system (ABS) mandatory in all two-wheelers sold in the country.

According to a report by TOI, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) is going to issue a notification soon in the coming time. Under which, it will be mandatory to give anti-lock braking system (ABS) in all two-wheelers, whether motorcycles or scooters manufactured in the country from the coming January 2026.

The special thing is that there will be no discrimination in the engine category to implement this safety feature. ABS will be mandatory in the engine capacity of a two -wheeler.

What is ABS?

ABS is an anti-lock braking system is a safety feature that prevents the tire from being locked while braking in a bike (or any vehicle). Its main task is that when the driver suddenly applies fast brakes in an emergency, the tire should not slip and the bike should be balanced. This is a very important and useful feature in today’s daily life.

While driving the bike, there is a sudden interruption in front of the driver. For example, if a car comes out or the path is bad, often people hit the brakes loudly. In such a situation, if the tire is locked (ie stop walking), then the bike can slip and there may be an accident. ABS works to avoid this situation.

How does ABS work?

  • The ABS consists of certain sensors and electronic control units (ECU) which continuously monitor the speed of the tire.
  • As soon as you apply brakes, monitor the speed of the sensor tire.
  • If a tire suddenly starts getting locked, the ABS reduces the brake pressure on that tire for some time.
  • As soon as the bike is balanced, this system then immediately brakes again.
  • This process takes place many times every second so that tire does not slip.
  • Due to this, the bike does not slip and the rider remains under control, even if the brake is not faster.

What is the type of ABS?

Single Channel Abs: Only works on the next wheel.
Dual Channel Abs: Works on both the front and back wheels and is considered more secure.

What is the rule about ABS right now?

At present, the anti-lock braking system (ABS) is mandatory in two-wheelers with engine capacity of more than 125 cc. Therefore, about 45% of the bikes and motorcycles sold in the country do not get this feature. Because a large section in the Indian market purchases bikes of computer segment with less than 125 engine capacity. In which models like Hero Splendor, Honda Shine, TVS Sport, Star and Bajaj Platina etc. come.

With the new notification, this feature will be applicable to all new bikes and motorcycles. Since almost all vehicles can run at a speed of 70 kmph, this feature will prove to be very important to reduce the possibility of accidents. Notifications can be issued for both these rules related to helmets and ABS in the next few months.

Two helmets will be available with two -wheeler:

Apart from this, the government is preparing to implement another rule. Under this, the ministry will soon make it mandatory for vehicle manufacturers and dealers to provide two BIS (BIS-CERTIified Helmet) certified helmets with vehicles at the time of selling two-wheelers. Let me tell you that, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had said during an event in the last March that, he has proposed that, all two -wheelers should be sold with two ISI certified helmets.

About 44% of the deaths due to road accidents in the country is of two -wheeler drivers. Most of these deaths are caused by a serious head injury due to lack of adequate safety gear. In such a situation, if two helmets are provided to vehicle buyers at the time of purchasing vehicles by dealers, then security will be improved.
