A 38 -year -old woman in Ganjam district of Odisha on Tuesday sentenced a woman to life imprisonment for the murder of her son. District and Sessions Judge Rupashree Chaudhary has announced this punishment after recording the statements of 15 witnesses and confirming the related evidence. The woman convicted of killing her own son has been identified as S Gangasamma, a resident of Bijipur.

Government lawyer Trilochan Parida said that this incident of murder took place on October 27, 2023. There was a dispute between S Gangsamma and her husband S Pappa Rao. His eight -year -old son S. Rohit Kumar was returning after reading tuition. At the same time, the woman pushed her son into the pond. Hearing the sound of the child screaming, the people somehow pulled him out of the pond.

After this he was taken to the local hospital. But by then the child had died. Based on the complaint of the husband of the accused woman, a case was registered at Barahampur Town Police Station under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police arrested the woman during the investigation. During interrogation, he confessed his crime. He is in jail since then.

In another case, a court in Ganjam district gave its verdict and sentenced five people to life imprisonment. This case is related to the murder of a 55 -year -old man. For this, five people including two brothers have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Additional District Judge Indu Sharma has sentenced Kedar Das, Sushant, Kanhu Das, Bapi Das and Sudhir Das, residents of Bijipur area.

He was convicted of killing Trinath Das. After this, while announcing the sentence, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of them. Additional government prosecutor Saubhagya Kumar Mishra said that the court has given its verdict after recording the statements of 16 witnesses including the police in this case. The incident took place on May 27, 2020 in Bijipur area.
