Odisha jagannath rath yatra thousands of devotees came to Gundicha Mandir in Puri for Evening Darshan Security Arrangements Tightens

Jagannath mandir puri: On Friday (July 4, 2025), on the occasion of Navami Tithi in front of Gundicha temple in Puri in Odisha, thousands of devotees appeared in queue for Sandhya Darshan. This is the last occasion on Navami Tithi when devotees can visit Lord Balabhadra, Goddess Subhadra and Lord Jagannath in the birthplace before the Bahu Yatra.

The Bahu Yatra is the day when Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra return to their temple after nine -day Rath Yatra. The journey started from 27 June.

Arrangements made for the protection of devotees- Dgp YB Khurania

Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania and top officials of the state administration monitored the action to ensure smooth darshan. During this, DGP Khurania said, “Devotees are entering the temple in queues and this process has been going on smoothly since morning. All arrangements have been made keeping in mind the safety of the devotees. People are being advised to follow the criteria.”

Apart from Khurania, Additional Director General (ADG) Soumendra Priyadarshi, senior bureaucrat Arvind Aggarwal, Puri District Magistrate Chanchal Rana, Superintendent of Police (SP) Pinak Mishra and others were also present.

Gundicha temple expected to have huge crowd- SP Pinak Mishra

Superintendent of Police Pinak Mishra said that all arrangements were made in view of the hopes of a huge crowd of devotees on the occasion. Security has been tightened after a tragic incident of stampede on June 29 near Gundicha temple. Three people were killed and about 50 people were injured in this incident.

Shri Jagannath temple administration gave information about the visit

Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) had earlier said that the common people will be allowed to enter the temple till 6 pm on Friday (July 4). The SJTA said in a post, “On Friday (July 4), the entry of common people in the lion gate of Shri Gundicha Temple will be closed from 6 pm on the occasion of evening darshan. This arrangement is being made in view of the necessary rituals and detailed preparations to be performed before the deities.
