Udit Pradhan is currently the state president in Odisha of the National Students Wing of India, the student unit of the Congress.
The Odisha police on Sunday arrested the state president Udit Pradhan of NSUI, the student unit of the Congress on charges of rape. The arrest has been made on the complaint of a 19 -year -old victim.
The student lodged a complaint at Mancheshwar police station on Sunday of the incident and said that on March 18, Udit Pradhan had called her for dinner, where she was given a cold drink. The victim claims that some intoxicating substance was added to that drink. The accused then took him to a hotel room and raped her.
Odisha police say the case is being investigated. Besides, medical reports and other evidence are also being investigated. At the same time, BJP leader Amit Malviya asked the Congress question how long will she keep saving her leaders?
Udit Pradhan Fakir also attended a protest organized against the Odisha government in the case of self -immolation at Mohan College.

BJP leader Amit Malviya surrounded the Congress and said that it is very shameful, but now it is no longer a shocking thing. Earlier, a case of Balasore victim’s suicide was reported, in which BJD and Congress student leaders were accused of slander of the girl. Malaviya asked,
The question is, how long will these parties continue to save their leaders? How many more daughters will have to suffer, then some strict steps will be taken?
He said that the silence of the Congress is also like supporting in a crime. Now the time has come to reveal the truth in such cases and strict action should be taken against the culprits.
July 12- Student committed suicide, accused arrested
The student was troubled by sexual harassment, she had set herself on fire when no hearing.
- The student Fakir was a second year student in Integrated Bed Course at Fakir Mohan College. On July 12, he had set fire to the college campus by spraying kerosene on the college campus, upset by the Sexual Harassment of the Head of Department (HOD).
- She had gone to the principal before the incident, but the principal asked her to withdraw her complaint. After this he committed self -immolation. The student was first admitted to Balasore District Hospital. From there, doctors referred AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
- The Odisha police arrested the accused HOD Sameer Kumar Sahu on 12 July. The state government suspended the principal of the college Dilip Ghosh. However, the police also arrested the principal on 14 July amid protests across the state.
- The student was burnt more than 95 percent. He died late on July 14 during treatment at Bhubaneswar AIIMS.
Student’s friend claims- BJD-NSUI pressured Aparajita to withdraw the complaint
According to a report, in a letter of July 1, 71 students demanded suspending Aparajita from the college. It is alleged that this student accused BED department HOD Prof. Sameer was under the influence of Ranjan Sahu. The letter described Aparajita’s allegations as false and action was also demanded on her supporters.
The friend of the deceased student also alleged that BJD and Congress Student Unit had pressurized Aparajita to withdraw the complaint.
