Tamil Nadu’s main opposition party ‘All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’ (AIADMK) has made a big announcement before the election. AIADMK general secretary E Palaniswami said on Tuesday (July 22) that after the formation of his party government, the newlyweds will give gold and silk sarees.
Talking to silk weavers, Palaniswami said that the party will also start plans to improve their livelihood. He said, ‘We will make every effort to help the silk handloom weavers of the state. Former Chief Minister J. Under the marriage assistance scheme launched by Jayalalithaa, arrangements will be made to give gold to the newly married bride for silk saris and plate (Mangalasutra).

AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister E.K. Palaniswami (EPS) had earlier reacted to Stalin’s comment. He had said that his party will form the government on its own in the 2026 assembly elections. This major party of the Dravidian community is not an easy option to bow down to the idea of the coalition government. He had said that the AIADMK will get a majority on its own. If we wish, then we will aligned and if not, we will not. We do not worry or trouble about anything.
Elections to be held in Tamil Nadu in 2026
Assembly elections are due next year in Tamil Nadu. This time the BJP has aligned with AIADMK. On the other hand there is an alliance of DMK and Congress, which is in power. The DMK alliance won all seats in the Lok Sabha elections held last year.
