The opposition is questioning the government regarding the India-Pakistan ceasefire. In this episode, on Wednesday (June 18, 2025), Union Minister Kiren Rijiju posted a video of Foreign Secretary on X and wrote that his statement is very clear. Those who questioned India’s intention have been given a befitting reply. He further wrote that when Pakistan raised the white flag of surrender, India postponed Operation vermilion.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Egypti said in his video that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump were scheduled to meet during the G-7 Summit, but President Trump had to return quickly. So this meeting could not be held. After this, on Wednesday (June 18, 2025) on the appeal of President Trump, the two leaders had a phone conversation and it lasted for about 35 minutes.
‘Trump called after the Pahalgam terror attack’
The Foreign Secretary said that after the Pahalgam terror attack, President Trump called PM Modi and expressed condolences and spoke of support in the fight against terror. Since then, the two leaders had a conversation for the first time today. He said that on the night of May 9, Vice President Vance had called PM Modi and he said that Pakistan can make a big attack on India. At the same time, PM Modi had made it clear that if this happens, India will give a bigger answer to Pakistan.

‘There was no talk on Indo-US trade deal regarding ceasefire’
Vikram Egyptian said that due to India’s befitting reply, Pakistan had to appeal to India to stop military action. PM Modi clearly stated President Trump that during this whole incident, there was no talk on topics like Indo-US trade deal at any level or media between India and Pakistan at any level. There was talk of stopping military action between the forces of India and Pakistan and it was on the appeal of Pakistan.
‘India’s operation vermilion still continues’
The Foreign Secretary said that PM Modi insisted that India had never accepted mediation, nor does it do nor will ever do it. President Trump understood PM Modi’s words in detail and expressed support for India in the fight against terror. PM Modi said this tour said that India no longer sees terrorism as a proxy war, but considers it as a war and ‘India’s operation vermilion is still going on.
He said that when President Trump asked PM Modi if he could stop America in return from Canada, the Prime Minister expressed his inability to face the predetermined programs. For the next meeting of Quad, PM Modi invited President Trump to come to India, which Trump said that he is keen to come to India.
