Indian defense ministry: After the temporary termination of Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army has purchased emergency (emergency) of around 2000 crore drones, military vehicles, radars and other emergency equipment. All these weapons and military equipment will be used in anti -terrorism campaign. In the last one and a half months, the Ministry of Defense has made a total of 13 such agreements.
The Ministry of Defense has finalized these contracts to strengthen the operations capacity of the Indian Army in campaigns against terrorism. The Ministry of Defense issued a statement on Tuesday stating that these contracts worth Rs 1981.90 crore have been finalized from the total sanctioned outlet (outlay) of Rs 2,000 crore for the Indian Army.
Long process on the purchase of weapons
The purpose of this purchase executed through fast-track procedures under the emergency procurement system is to increase status awareness, firepower, mobility and security for soldiers deployed in campaigns against terrorism. According to the Ministry of Defense, this acquisition was completed in a short deadline to ensure rapid capacity growth. Actually, the purchase of weapons has to go through a long process. In such a situation, the army is not able to supply military equipment in time. For this, the Ministry of Defense has found the path of emergency procurement to the army. With this process, the army can immediately buy any weapon or defense equipment.
Laws bought by Ministry of Defense Ministry
The list of the kind of weapons and equipment that the Ministry of Defense will buy is as follows:
• Unified Drone Detection and International System (IDDIS)
• Light level light weight radar (LLR)
• Very short distance air defense system (Vshords)-launcher and missile
• Aerial vehicle operated from a distance.
• Loitoring mutation including vertical take-offs and landing systems.
• Drone of different categories.
• bulletproof vest.
• Ballistic helmet.
• Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicle (QRAV)-Heavy and medium.
• Night vision device for rifles.
This purchase reflects the Ministry’s commitment to equip the Indian Army with modern and fully indigenous systems to deal with emerging security challenges. This is important towards emergency procurement system, immediate capacity gaps and ensuring timely availability of important operating equipment.
Action in response to Pahalgam attack
Operation vermilion was launched on 6-7 May against terrorist organizations operating from Pakistan to avenge Pahalgam attack (22 April). Under this, eight (08) terrorist bases were destroyed in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Pakistan attacks India drone and missile
In response to Operation Sindoor, Pakistan had attacked drone and missiles on India. In such a situation, India had carried out a big air attack on 11 airbase of the Pakistani Air Force. On May 10, Pakistan had requested India for a ceasefire. In such a situation, India had temporarily stopped military operations. However, India had also said that Operation Sindoor has been stopped, it is not over. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that if there was a terrorist attack on India again, it would be considered a war. In this case, the Indian Army was in dire need of giving a edge to its counter terrorism warfare. In such a situation, an emergency procurement of 2000 crores has been done.
