‘Our relationship is improving, soon ours …’, Jaishankar said after meeting Vice President of China Zheng

External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar told Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on Monday (July 14, 2025) that the Indo-China relations can get mutually beneficial results due to continuous normal.

In the meeting with Han Zheng, Jaishankar also said that given the complex global situation, open exchange of ideas between the two neighboring countries is important. The Foreign Minister reached Beijing from Singapore this morning in the second and final phase of his two countries.

Dr. S. Jaishankar is visiting China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference in the Chinese city of Tianjin. This is Jaishankar’s first visit to China after the 2020 military deadlock over the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh and after the serious tension in the relationship between the two countries. In his initial statement in the meeting, Jaishankar said, “As you said, our bilateral relations have been continuously improving since the meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping in Kazan last year.”

He said, ‘I am confident that my discussions in this journey will move in this positive direction.’ The Foreign Minister also mentioned the 75th anniversary of establishing India-China diplomatic relations.

The Foreign Minister said, ‘The restoration of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is also being widely appreciated in India. The continuous normal of our relationships can result in mutually beneficial results. Jaishankar said, ‘The international situation we are meeting today is very complicated. As neighboring countries and major economies, open exchange of ideas and attitudes between India and China is very important.

Jaishankar said, ‘I hope for such discussions during this journey.’ Less than three weeks before this visit of Jaishankar, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh traveled to the Chinese port city Kingdao to attend the conference of Defense Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan (SCO). China is the current president of the Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan and hence is hosting the meetings of this group.
