Notice to Pakistani citizen in India: Pakistan -born Sharda Kukreja appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday (April 26, 2025) not to separate him from his family, as the police have issued a notice to leave the country. 53 -year -old Kukreja has been living in Bolngir district of Odisha for 35 years after marrying an Indian citizen.
Born in Sukkur city of Sindh province of Pakistan, Sharada came to India to forcibly convert and escape from a Muslim youth there. After marrying Mahesh Kumar Kukreja, she has been living in Bolngir district of Odisha for 35 years. They have two children a son and a daughter. Both of his children are married.
Notice given based on record, investigation of woman’s claims is being done
Superintendent of Police Abhilash, Bolngar. Zee said that the administration has given notice to Sharada to leave the country as soon as possible. He said that the notice has been given only to the woman, not her spouse or children. Asked about Sharda Kukreja’s claim that he has an Aadhaar card and participated in the election process, the Superintendent of Police said, “We have given notice as per the records. We now have to confirm the claims being made on their behalf. ”
India had announced that all the visas issued to Pakistani citizens will be canceled from April 27 and these people have been asked to leave the country. Tension between India and Pakistan has increased after the death of 26 people in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
35 years ago left Pakistan and reached India
Sharda said that she had escaped from Pakistan 35 years ago in Bolngir district for fear of conversion with her four sisters and five brothers. He said that all his siblings are also married and are living in different places of India.
He said, “First we came to Koraput district of Odisha and came to Bolngir after marriage. I have been living in Bolgegir for 35 years. When I was married in 1990, I was only 18 years old. ”He told that his family came to India on a 60 -day visa in 1987. All the members of the woman’s family are Indians, yet they have a Pakistani passport and are technically citizens of that country.
‘I am not considered an Indian’
Sharda claimed, “I have an Aadhaar card and I have voted in various elections but technically I am not considered Indian.” He said that he hoped that he would get Indian citizenship after the Citizenship Amendment Act. He said that Indian citizenship still does not have him.
This appeal to PM Modi
In the fear of being excluded from the country at this age and separation from the family, Sharda appealed to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister not to separate them from husband and children. He said, “If the Government of India sends me back to Pakistan, then where should I go, whom should I meet there?” I have no one in that country. I have never gone to Pakistan after 1987. “He said,” I too have not called anyone in Pakistan. I have no relation with the country that failed to protect me and my family. ”
Sharda said that she cannot live a moment without her family. He said that his son, daughter and grandson are equally worried and do not want to let Sharada separate from him. The Odisha government has so far identified 12 Pakistani citizens living on long -term and short -term visas in the state and asked them to leave the country by 27 April.
Notice given to another woman
Meanwhile, a Pakistani woman, who was married to a shop owner in Bhubaneswar since 2008, came to know that on Saturday, the police had approved her permit to go out of the country pending. His long -term visa (LTV) ended in 2024 and received a travel visa after his application for visa expansion was rejected. Then he applied for permission to exit the country in February.
Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena told reporters here, “Yes, we have approved permission to go out of the country and have also given notice to leave the country due to being a Pakistani citizen. He has been ordered to leave India by 27 April. ”He said that this action is being taken as per the order of the Center, under which various types of visas allotted to Pakistani citizens have been canceled.
