Pakistan cricket: The ICC Champions Trophy recently took place 2025 in the hosting of Pakistan, in which the Indian team became the champion. In this tournament held under its own hosting, the Pakistan team was very upset. The team was out of the group stage in 5 days. Pakistan did not win any match.
After the Champions Trophy, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has once again come into the limelight. Like every time, this time also PCB is in the headlines for its Kangali. He had recently decided to cut the match fees of players playing in the domestic National T20 tournament by up to 90 percent.
T20 players ban on match fees deduction
After this decision, there was an uproar in Pakistani domestic cricket. After this, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi had to interfere. He has stopped this decision by ordering the officials concerned. That is, now the reduction in match fees of Pakistani domestic T20 players has been stopped by up to 90 percent.
Let us know that at this time, the players get one lakh rupees per match of Pakistani money by playing domestic T20 matches. It was decided to give 10 thousand rupees per match while cutting up to 90 percent. Reserve players would have got only 5 thousand rupees. But now the PCB Chief has banned this deduction.
Why was it decided to cut match fees?
A PCB official told ESPNcricinfo that the decision to cut the match fee for the National T20 Cup was not the result of financial concerns. Instead, the PCB feels that the players’ earnings have increased during the season with more tournaments in the domestic calendar, including the Champions T20 Cup, which took place in December 2024.
The champions cup format of the top-5 teams of the players is repeated in both 50 overs and the first class tournament. Many players are employed by a department (for a tournament like President Trophy) which gives them monthly salary, so the board believes that the fall in match fees has not reduced the total earnings.
The National T20 Cup will start from March 14, in which a total of 39 matches will be played in three cities. These three cities are Faisalabad, Lahore and Multan. While the final will be held in Faisalabad on 27 March. Some big international cricketers will not be able to participate in this match, as the Pakistani team has visited New Zealand for 5 T20 and 3 ODIs.
