Nitin Menon shied away from going to Pakistan.

New Delhi. Nitin Menon, the only Indian in the umpires of the ICC’s elite panel, has refused to go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. Earlier, the Indian team refused to visit Pakistan. The Champions Trophy is to be held from 19 February. Some of its matches will be held in Pakistan while all the matches of the Indian team will be played in UAE. Nitin Menon is not named in the list of umpires for the Champions Trophy by the ICC. Match referee Jawagal Srinath will also miss the Champions Trophy. Nitin Menon has opted to get out of umpiring in the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan this month due to personal reasons.

The ICC announced the list of 15 match officials on Wednesday. Which includes three matches referee and 12 umpires. Which will be the officers of this tournament, which will start in Karachi on 19 February, whose final will be held on March 9. David Boon of Australia, Ranjan Madugale of Sri Lanka and Andrew Picroft of Zimbabwe have been nominated as a match referee for the eight teams tournaments. A source in the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) told PTI, ‘The ICC wanted to include them in the team of the Champions Trophy. But he decided not to go to Pakistan for personal reasons. Menon could not be an umpire in matches in Dubai as the ICC follows the policy of appointment of neutral umpires.
