Pakistan Hindu Group Demands Security from Govt to Celebrate Holi at Ancient Temple in Multan

Holi celebration at Prahladpuri Temple Pakistan: Hindu organizations of Pakistan have demanded security and government assistance during the Holi festival at the ancient Prahladpuri temple in Multan. Actually, this temple is dedicated to the Hindu deity Narasimha. It is believed that the festival of Holi started from here. Currently it is in a shabby state and Hindu devotees also have to take permission to worship here.

On Tuesday (March 11, 2025), President of All Pakistan Hindu Rights Movement, President of the Hindu Rights Movement, urged the government in this regard to ensure security and necessary arrangements for Pakistani Hindus to celebrate Holi from 14 to 16 March in the temple. The plight of the temple should be considered and handed over to the Hindu community.

Question on the status and religious freedom of Hindu temples in Pakistan
Aaron Sarab Diyal expressed concern over the behavior of the Hindu community in Pakistan and said that Hindus are being denied their constitutional rights. Diyal said, “As a Pakistani Hindu, we are being denied constitutional rights to worship and celebrate our cultural traditions.”

Major problems of Hindu community:
Many Hindu temples of Pakistan have become dilapidated. Devotees have to take the permission of the government to worship at their own religious places. The community feels insecure during Hindu festivals.

Religious importance of historical Prahladpuri Temple
Actually, this temple is associated with Holika Dahan and Holi festival. According to Hindu belief, Prahlad worshiped Lord Narasimha here. The temple was damaged several times during the Mughal and British period. This temple is a victim of neglect and plight since partition. Most of the temple has turned into ruins. Due to the policies of the Government of Pakistan, it is difficult to reopen it to the Hindu community.

Warning of Hindu organizations
Aaron Sarab Diyal clarified that if security is not given during the Holi festival, we will be forced to raise our voice on every available platform using our constitutional and moral rights. “
