The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has informed the International Hockey Federation (FIH) that it is unable to send its team for the Asia Cup to be held in India next month.
PHF says that this decision has been taken due to the current situation and security concerns in India. The Hockey Asia Cup is to be held from 27 August, which will be played in Nalanda, Bihar till 7 September. PHF president Tariq Bugti said that he has expressed his concerns by writing a letter to FIH and Asian Hockey Federation (AHF). He said that we have told them that under current circumstances our team may face security risk while playing in India.
He further said that our players are also not keen to participate in the Asia Cup to be held in India. This tournament is also the qualification of the World Cup. Bugti also told that FIH and AHF have to decide what to do about the tournament and Pakistan matches.
