Indus water treatment: Pakistan has once again appealed to India to restore Indus Water Treaty. On Monday (June 30, 2025) on behalf of Pakistan, it was said that the recent verdict of the Permanent Arbitration Court in Hague shows that the agreement is still valid and active. As per the provisions of the Indus Water Treaty, some aspects of the design of two hydroelectric projects were raised by Pakistan, the proceedings were taken in the Permanent arbitration court, which India never recognized.

India strongly dismissed this decision and said that it has never recognized the so -called structure of dispute resolution with Pakistan. Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a statement issued on Monday (June 30, 2025) that the decision pronounced by the Arbitration Court on June 27 confirms the situation of Pakistan that the Indus Water Treaty is valid and functional and India has no right to take unilateral action about it.

What did Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar say?
The statement said, “We appeal to India to immediately restore the normal functioning of the Indus Water Treaty and fulfill their obligations of the treaty honestly.” Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said in a separate statement that the verbal court’s decision has confirmed that the Indus Water Treaty is completely valid.

He said in a post on the social media platform X on Monday, “Pakistan welcomes the supplementary decision of the arbitration court confirming its jurisdiction in the Kishanganga-night case. This decision confirms that the Indus Water Treaty is completely valid. India cannot unilaterally postpone it. Countries are measured by following international agreements. The Indus Water Treaty should be retained. ”
