The train in Pakistan’s disturbed Balochistan province targeted the militants on Tuesday (March 11, 2025), a passenger, Mushtaq Mohammed, while narrating the incident, said that he would never forget the dreadful scene of the attack. Another passenger said that he was like doom.
Mushtaq is one of the passengers who were rescued after the attack by Bluech militants on the passenger train. According to security officials, a passenger train was attacked by Baloch militants in a tunnel on Tuesday in Pakistan’s disturbed Balochistan province, after which security forces killed at least 27 militants and 155 passengers were rescued.
According to a BBC Urdu report, Mushtaq, riding in box number three of the train, said, “There was a big explosion at the beginning of the attack.” He said, ‘Firing started after this, which continued for an hour. This was a scene that can never be forgotten.
A passenger named Ishaq Noor, who was riding in box number seven of the same train, was going from Quetta to Rawalpindi with his wife and two children. Ishaq Noor said, “The explosion was so strong that the windows and doors of the train were shaken and a child sitting near me fell down.” He said, ‘The firing would have lasted for about 50 minutes … During this time we were not able to breathe, we did not know what would happen.’
Mushtaq said that the firing gradually stopped and armed men entered the train coaches. Ishaq Noor said, ‘He started looking at the identity cards of some people and separated some of them. Three militants were guarding the doors of our compartment. He told the people that they would not say anything to the common citizens, women, old and Baloch people.
Mushtaq said that the attackers were talking among themselves in Baluchi language and their leader was repeatedly telling them that they should keep a special eye on the security personnel and they should not get out of hand. Ishaq said, ‘I think he brought down at least 11 passengers from our compartment and said that they are security personnel. During this time a person tried to protest after which he was tortured and then the sound of bullets came. After this, all the people present in the compartment followed his instructions.
He said, ‘They were not letting me go but when I told them that I am a resident of Trubat (Balochistan) and I have children and women with me, they also let me go.’ Another passenger Mohammad Ashraf said that the militants allowed the elderly, citizens, women and children to go.
He said, ‘The passengers were very scared, it was a dreadful scene as the day of doom.’ Ashraf said, “According to my estimate, he (militant) took around 250 people with him and the number of attackers was around 1,100.”
