Good news for players of Pakistan’s T20 team.

Highlights

  • Match fees have been increased to Rs 40,000
  • Reserve players’ match fees have increased to Rs 20,000
  • Babar Azam refused to play National T20

New Delhi. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has increased the match fees of the players for the National T20 Championship after strongly criticizing its decision to cut the salary. The PCB had earlier reduced the match fees to Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 for the players and reserve players, due to which its president Mohsin Naqvi had to issue orders to review the decision.

After a large -scale criticism in this case, the PCB has now increased the match fees of the players to Rs 40,000 and the match fee of the reserve players by Rs 20,000. The board had suddenly stopped the National Under-19 championship after just one day’s game, after which there is a discussion about Pakistan’s domestic cricket program and structure.

This decision was taken on the order of Naqvi after complaints of selection and other issues of older players in the Under-19 cricket tournament. The National Junior Tournament, considered the most important platform for new talents, has not been organized in this session. Meanwhile, there have also been reports of cutting facilities for players in domestic cricket. This includes ending contracts and spending much less in things like hotel and travel than before.

PCB sources claim that the cuts in expenses have been made due to an increase in tournaments in domestic cricket in this session. These tournaments were not included in the earlier budget. Former captain Babar Azam, who was dropped from Pakistan’s T20 team for the upcoming series to be held in New Zealand, has decided to withdraw from the National T20 Championship. Babur, Mohammad Rizwan and fast bowler Nasim Shah were not selected in the team for the five-match T20 series starting in Christchurch from 16 March. However, these three players have been retained in the ODI team.

Announcing the team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had indicated that Babur, Rizwan, Naseem, one of the central contracted players, will participate in the National T20 starting in Faisalabad this week. Babur and Naseem, however, have withdrawn the name from the National T20 tournament citing charge management and upcoming international commitments. A reliable source of PCB said that Pakistan Super League is going to start in mid -April, so it is clear that they are giving priority to the franchise league. Babur has not played any domestic first class match since 2020.
