Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping met during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin. According to Misri, it was emphasized in the talks that India and China should not be competitive but become partners. The two leaders agreed that the differences should not be converted into controversy and stable, friendly relations would be beneficial for 2.8 billion people of both countries.

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China, he said that Prime Minister Modi’s first important meeting of this morning was with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Misri said that an official statement has been issued regarding this meeting. He said that these two leaders have a second meeting in less than one year. The last time he met in Kazan in October 2024 last year, where the two leaders had set some strategic guidelines for the development of bilateral relations and also set some concrete targets for both sides.
