‘I have been driving a car for the last seven years and I do not like bikes at all. Not only this, I also find bikes dangerous. Now for the last six months, I am very fond of buying my sports bike and I keep saying that I should have a bike. I have also seen two-three bikes and have also found out their price. My family members and friends also say that if the bike is not riders, then why does it feel like buying a bike suddenly?
Then I suddenly remembered that the boy whose heart was transplanted, died in the accident while riding a bike. He was also very fond of bikes. Maybe because of his heart, I am fond of bikes. I think that young man must have been fond of bikes, then now I too have become fond of bikes. Before the heart transplant, I did not even think of going to Leh-Ladakh by bike, but now I have a lot of mind to go there.
Apart from this, I did not like to eat Chinese earlier. I never used to go to eat Chinese outside, but now I have started eating every week. These words are of Narharibhai Patel, who had a heart transplant in January 2024. Not only Narhari Bhai, there are many people who have done a heart transplant, which later changed their hobbies.
Today, September 29 is World Heart Day. On this occasion, Divya Bhaskar had a special conversation with the patients of heart transplant. In this conversation, he learned about the changes in his nature, food and hobbies. Our team also spoke to the family of the heart. Apart from this, he also spoke to Dr. Dhiren Shah, a well-known heart transplant of Gujarat and tried to understand the reasons behind these changes in the patients.

Heart transplant took place at the age of 38 Narharbhi Patel, who lives in Ahmedabad, said- I had a heart problem in 2018. My heart was getting bigger. I was also given medicines, but was not benefiting. In 2018 itself, I was asked to get a heart transplant, but it was not possible due to some complications at that time. Then a CRT (cardiac resinking therapy) device was transplanted in my heart.
In 2022, when the device’s battery was over, it was again transplanted and then my health began to improve slightly. In 2023, doctors said that heart transplant is the only solution. I registered and got a heart transplant in January 2024. At that time I was 38 years old.

I got a 24 -year -old boy’s heart Narharibhai says- I was transplanted for a 24-year-old boy from Surat, who is originally from Nepal. I got a heart that is 14 years younger than my age. After the transplant, it looks as if this is my second birth.
Chinese liked to eat food Narharibhai says about physical changes- Talking about eating, first I did not like to eat Chinese. I never used to go out to eat Chinese food. However, now I am very much liked eating Chinese. Now Chinese food is definitely prepared at my house once a week.
Anger comes very quickly Regarding the change in my nature, Narharbhai says, ‘Earlier I did not like to quarrel with anyone and my nature was also very calm. Of course, now my wife and friends always talk about my nature that now you get angry very soon. My perspective of seeing life has changed completely.
Earlier I used to pay more attention to career and money, home and car. Now I think all this is just for showing. If we have the money worth living, then there is no need to think much. The biggest capital is to give time to friends and family.

Sakshitaben Jain, who lives in Ahmedabad, had a heart pumping problem during delivery and later had a heart transplant in 2020.
Heart problem occurred during delivery Sakshitaben says- My heart was pumping only 10-15%. So I was very less likely to escape. For this reason, heart transplant was suggested. At that time it was not possible due to corona. Then there was a heart transplant on July 10, 2020. Then I was 35 years old.
24 -year -old boy got a heart Sakshitaben says- I have got the heart of 24-year-old Maharish Patel of Surat. He died in an accident. I still meet his parents. They treat me just like a daughter. All his relatives know me. I talk to them regularly. I especially call him on Maharish’s birthday. Also, when they organize Garba on Janmashtami, Krishna Festival and Navratri, they always make video calls.

Sakshitaben says about the changes in herself- I am getting angry after surgery. Earlier I did not answer anyone quickly. Now I get angry quickly.
Regarding the change in food and drink, Sakshitaben said- I did not eat Gujarati food or sweets, but now I have started eating them. Not only this, now I have started eating more ice cream. Earlier I did not eat sandwiches, but now I have started eating them too.
I came to know that Maharish loved it. So I increased after surgery. Earlier I used to eat more junk food and did not eat healthy food. Apart from this, now I have started walking more. Earlier I used to wake up early, but now I do not open sleep for a long time.
Maharish was fond of sandwiches and sweets Maharish Patel’s father Harshadbhai said- Whenever Maharishi used to go out with friends, Sandwich and Pizza used to eat a lot. Not only this, Maharish loved Gujarati sweets very much. Harshadbhai was asked how was Maharish’s nature? So he immediately replied that his mind was very fast, meaning he was of an angry nature. Not only this, he loved shopping. He used the money openly.

The role of Jamnagar, a heart transplant, was done when she was just 13 years old. Father Amit Kumar and Bhumika talked about the changes after the heart transplant.
Talking about his daughter’s problem, the father said- My Ladli had started having heart problems from the age of seven. Initially there was no sure diagnosis. But later it was discovered that the heart is not pumping properly. It was expected that the medicine would get relief. Medicines were introduced from 2015. During this time, American researchers also gave him medicines and took medicines for two years, some improved, but finally there was talk of heart transplant.
The role was a bit restless due to frequent medicines. We used to come to Ahmedabad from Jamnagar regularly for the last six-seven years. Sometimes we had to come twice a week. In January 2022, I met Dr. Dhiren Shah and Dr. Chintan and then said that my daughter would have to be mentally prepared for transplantation.
As long as his will is not strong, the expected effect of treatment and medicine is not possible. My daughter also accepted the situation. Initially, we were all scared of surgery, but then we had no objection. On March 15, 2022, the role of role took place. She was 13 years old at that time.
A big understanding came at a young age Today’s 17 -year -old girl, who was just 13 years old at that time. Now she thinks like a very mature person. Will Power says about Strong- I don’t think much. What to happen will remain. You have no choice or you can choose anything. You have only one option and that is heart transplant and you have to get it done.
Regarding the change in the role after surgery, the father says- the role of the biggest change after surgery says- I did not like bitter gourd at all. Now bitter gourd is my favorite vegetable. Regarding the precautions to be taken after surgery, Bhumika says that I have to take regular medicines daily.
If you want to sleep late on Sunday, then I sleep with medicines in the middle. I just have to take medicines on time. After the transplant, steam has to be taken, the right food has to be kept, we have to keep an eye on weight gain and measure the urine. After taking care of all these for three to four months, the routine becomes absolutely normal.
Bhumika got heart in third attempt Regarding the heart of Bhumika, the father said- the donor was a 21-year-old Rajasthani youth. He died in a road accident. However, we could not meet that family till date. Nor did that family ever try to contact us.

The creation of Amreli, who hails from Amreli, was a heart transplant in December 2020, when she was 16 years old. Srishti says about the biggest change in life after surgery- I have started regular exercise, meditation and good food. Now they have become a part of my life. Apart from this, my perspective of seeing life has also changed.
His heart was donated after the 42 -year -old Ashreitaben residing in Surat. I have not yet met his family privately. But I once talked to Ashritaen’s husband through a video conference. When I met Uncle, I felt very good and sad that Uncle lost his wife. Then I smiled and told him- Uncle, do not take tension at all. I am sitting in the heart of Ashrita Aunty in my heart. They are alive, just believe this.
I am very stubborn Talking about the change, Srishti says- Earlier I did not have any patience at all, I have become very patient. My family has definitely told me one thing that after the transplant, I have started becoming very stubborn. Apart from this, earlier I used to be confident and won only for myself, but now I try to help everyone as much as possible.
We spoke to a well-known heart transplant doctor Dr. Dhiren Shah about the changes in patients after heart transplantation.
Many transplant patients suffering from depression Dr. Dhiren Shah said in the conversation- There is a possibility of change in nature and behavior and psychological reasons are responsible for this. It may be that a patient is suffering from heart disease for about five years and then he gets a new heart and after surgery he remained alone in the same room for the first three months. Then the next six months he had to stay inside the house.
All these affect nature and change. Apart from this, some are also guilty that someone died and his heart was offered. This guilt also causes changes in nature. There is often depression. Apart from this, if any complication comes after the transplant and it has to be recruited and this continues to happen again and again, then the patient’s nature becomes irritable.
Research is going on for change Dr. Shah further says- The choice of a person with heart transplant starts changing, it is not necessary to be with everyone. Research is still going on about whether it really happens or not. Some time ago a research paper was published on cell memory. Every cell of the body has a memory.
Heart cells also have a memory and if it stores in chemical form and that memory is released, there is a possibility of some changes. The patients never told me, but their relatives told me. One or two of my patients did not like rice before, but now like it. At first they were irritable and now they are completely calm.
