Pew Research Report on Population: The Pew Research Center has conducted a population -based survey, in which shocking figures have been revealed. This data is between 2010 and 2020, in which data has been prepared about the religious group. The Christian community is considered to be the largest religious group in the world. Its population increased to 2.3 billion (230 crore) from 2010 to 2020. However, this number shows an increase of 122 million, but their percentage stake declined compared to the global population.
In 2010, Christians were 30.6% of the world’s population, while in 2020 it declined to 28.8 percent. This means that even though Christians grow numerically, they lagged behind in proportion to the population. The reason for this may be that population growth in Christian -dominated regions (such as North America and Europe) is slowing down, while religions such as Islam are spreading more rapidly in high growth rates.
Islam is the fastest growing religious group in the world
Between 2010 and 2020, there was a tremendous increase of 347 million in the Muslim population, which increased the total number to more than 1.9 billion. This growth is more than the combined growth of all other religions. The global share of Muslims increased from 23.8% to 25.6%. The reason for this boom is high birth rate and youth population, especially in areas such as Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
Decline in Buddhism is a worrying sign
Buddhism is a major ancient religion of the world, but between 2010 and 2020 it saw a decline of 19 million. This number is now limited to 324 million. The global stake has also fallen from 4.9 per cent to 4.1 per cent. This decline may be due to increasing distance from religion and low birth rate in countries like China, Japan and South Korea.
Increasing number of nons
R They have now become the third largest group in the world. Their number increased by 270 million to 1.9 billion, which represents 24.2 per cent global population. This means that one in every four person is no longer associated with any religion. This trend is being seen mainly in Europe, America, Japan and urban China.
Stability in Hinduism in the population of the world
The number of Hindus exceeded 1.2 billion, with an increase of 126 million. His global stake was stable at 14.9 percent. This stability indicates that population growth in Hindu-majority countries like India and Nepal has been around the global average. At the same time, there was a slight increase in the number of Jews. Now it is about 14.8 million. Their global stake is 0.2 per cent, which makes them the smallest religious group in the study. All other religions such as Sikhs, Jains, Bahai, folk religion, 2.2 per cent of the global share remained stable.
Religious status of the world
By 2020, 75.8 percent of the world’s people were associated with some religion. The remaining 24.2 percent people were different from any religious identity. This is a decline of about 1 percent compared to 2010, indicating that gradually religious discomfort is increasing globally.
