Philippines President Ferdinand Razos Jr. will reach New Delhi on a five -day state visit on Monday (4 August 2025). The purpose of this journey is to strengthen defense and trade relations between India and the Philippines. This is his first official visit to India after taking over in 2022.
President Marcos Monday (4 August 2025) will land at New Delhi Airport in the afternoon. She will accompany her first woman Lewis Arnetta Marcos and a high -level delegation of cabinet ministers, senior officials and business leaders. His visit is taking place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which increases its importance. This journey is expected to strengthen strategic and defense cooperation, especially in the maritime field.
India’s BrahMos supersonic cruise missile
It is worth noting that the Philippines is the first foreign country to buy India’s BrahMos supersonic cruise missile system. The first batch of BrahMos missiles was handed over to the Philippines on 19 April 2024. An agreement is expected to increase defense cooperation focused on maritime security during this visit. Jaishankar will meet him in New Delhi on Monday. The President of the Philippines is also likely to go to Bengaluru before leaving India on August 8.
India’s Act East Policy
The Ministry of External Affairs of India said that the Philippines is an important partner in India’s Act East Policy, Vision Ocean and Indo-Pacific strategy. The two countries not only have a relationship based on strategic interests but are also based on deep historical and cultural relations. There are many Sanskrit words in Tagalog language and archaeological conclusions such as Laguna Copperplate inscription and Agusan Tara Murthy show centuries -old relationships.

In 1992, India’s ‘Look East Policy’ and later ‘Act East Policy’ increased significantly in relations between the two countries, especially through ASEAN cooperation. President Marcos and Prime Minister Modi earlier met in October 2024 during the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and 19th East Asia Summit in Laos. Earlier in 2023, the two leaders met at the 20th ASEAN-India Summit in Jakarta.
