PM Modi China Visit Live: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Tianjin in China on Saturday (30 August) in the evening. This is his first visit to China after seven years between turmoil and changing alliances in global trade.

This visit of PM Modi is taking place when the two countries have intensified efforts to normalize relations by taking steps like starting the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and restoring tourist visas for Chinese citizens.

Look at meeting Xi Jinping

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This is considered to be the most important of many of his meetings in the next two days. This conversation will be an opportunity to further strengthen the recent progress in the relationship between the military deadlock on the border that has been going on for almost five years. Sources say that in this meeting, Modi will give a message to pursue relationships from long -term and strategic perspectives.

Modi’s first day meetings in Tianjin also include a possible talks with myanmar acting President and military chief Min Aung Having. The high-level connectivity between India and Myanmar has been limited since the army captured power in 2021. This will be the second meeting of Modi and Myanmar leader this year after a conversation during the BIMSTEC summit in Thailand. It is believed that Modi will insist on the need for inclusive and reliable elections and will give the message of restoration of democracy in the country facing ethnic violence.

Importance of India-Myanmar Relations

Myanmar is isolated from western countries, but has maintained strong relations with both India and China. India has a 1600 km long border with Myanmar and it is mandatory for India to maintain cooperation with Myanmar’s army to deal with the challenge of cross -border extremism.

Business cooperation will be discussed

Business and economic support will be the main subject in the meeting of Prime Minister Modi and President Xi Jinping. Modi will emphasize the need for fair trade partnership and will discuss China’s role in important areas like rare soil, fertilizer and equipment. Recently Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi gave External Affairs Minister S.K. Jaishankar was assured that China would relax the restrictions on the export of these goods. Also, it is expected to be agreed to resume direct air service between the two countries.

Strict stance on terrorism

Modi is also going to raise the issue of terrorism in his meeting. After the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India will express concern over cross -border terrorism. This tour is happening at a time when relations between India and America are at the lowest level of decades. In such a situation, Modi’s visit to China is not only limited to the SCO summit, but also an attempt to give new direction to India-China relations and to balance regional politics.
