PM Modi will start 5 projects related to oil, gas, electricity, road and rail in West Bengal.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Durgapur in West Bengal. Here he will hold a public meeting in a while. During this period, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inauguration of several development projects related to oil, gas, electricity, road and rail costing more than Rs 5000 crore.
PM Modi’s rally is attended by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya, Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari, former BJP state president Sukant Majumdar and Dilip Ghosh.
Durgapur The west of Bengal is the city of Vardhman district. Assembly elections are going to be held in the state next year. This is Modi’s second visit to West Bengal in 2025. Earlier, he laid the foundation stone of city gas projects in Alipurdwar and Cooch Vihar districts on 29 and 30 May.
PM Modi had earlier visited West Bengal on 29 May. He gave a speech for 32 minutes in Alipurduar.
PM Modi will start these 5 projects-
- BPCL City Gas Distribution Project, Cost- ₹ 1,950 Crore The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Urban Gas Distribution (CGD) project of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) costing about Rs 1,950 crore in Bankura and Purulia districts of West Bengal. Under this project, PNG and CNG connections will be provided to homes, commercial installations and industrial customers. This will also create new employment opportunities in the area.
- Durgapur -Kolkata Natural Gas Pipeline, Cost – ₹ 1,190 Crore The Prime Minister will start Kolkata section (132 km) from Durgapur of Durgapur-Haldia Natural Gas Pipeline. It is laid as a part of the Jagdishpur-Haldia and Bokaro-Dhamra pipeline. This project is also known as the Prime Minister’s Energy Ganga Project. Durgapur to Kolkata section costing more than Rs 1,190 crore is passing through East Vardhman, Hooghly and Nadia districts of West Bengal.
- FGD system at Durgapur Steel and Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station, Cost- ₹ 1,457 Crore Prime Minister Durgapur will also dedicate the Fluids Discalification (FGD) unit costing more than Rs 1,457 crore of Steel Thermal Power Station and Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station of Damodar Valley Corporation. This will reduce air pollution.
- Purulia-Kotshila railway line doubling, cost- ₹ 390 crore Promoting improvement in industrial connectivity through railways in Bengal, Prime Minister Modi will also flag off the doubling project of 36 km long Purulia-Kotshila railway line at Purulia at a cost of more than Rs 390 crore. This will improve the rail connectivity of industries in Jamshedpur, Bokaro and Dhanbad with Ranchi and Kolkata. There will be direct movement of goods trains, which will also save time.
- Inauguration of two road over bridge (ROB) in Topsi and Pandabeshwar, cost- ₹ 380 crore Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate two road over bridges (ROB) built at a cost of more than Rs 380 crore under the Setu Bharatam program in Topasi and Pandabeshwar of West Vardhman. This will improve connectivity and will also help in preventing accidents at railway crossings.
PM Modi’s rally after six years in Durgapur This is PM Modi’s second rally after 6 years in Durgapur in West Vardhman district of Bengal. Earlier, he went to Durgapur for the first time on 2 February 2019. On this day, PM Modi started the BJP’s Lok Sabha election campaign in West Bengal. He also addressed a large public meeting at Nehru Stadium in Durgapur.
