PM Modi reached Trinidad and Tobago on a two -day tour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday for the second phase of his visit to his five countries, where Trinidad and Tobago’s PM Kamla Prasad-Bissar welcomed PM Modi with 38 ministers and four MPs at Piyarko International Airport. Its PM was ceremonially given a guard of honor at the airport.

This is Modi’s first bilateral visit to this Caribbean country as PM and is also the first official visit of any Indian PM after 1999. This tour is taking place at Trinidad’s invitation.

The relations between the two countries will be strong

During this visit from July 3 to 4, PM Modi will meet Trinidad and Tobago President Christine Carla Kangalu and Prime Minister Kamla Prasad-Bissar, where bilateral talks will be held. The purpose of these meetings is to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

High Commission welcomed PM Modi

At the same time, the Port of Spain -based Indian High Commission welcomed PM Modi by sharing a post on X. The High Commission wrote on X, ‘Welcome to Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi!’

Prior to the visit, High Commissioner Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit in Trinidad and Tobago in India said that both the people of Trinidad and Tobago are both wishing for deep cooperation with India.

‘People have enthusiasm’

According to the news agency, he told, ‘There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people. Everyone is waiting for this journey … Trinidad and Tobago already have deep engagement and intense desire for cooperation in various fields and in this context, both people and the government are interested in a long -term, comprehensive partnership with India.

Pointing to deep cultural and emotional relations between the two countries, he said that almost half of the population of Trinidad and Tobago is of Indian origin which has been living here for the last 180 years and has reached many fifth and sixth generations. Rajpurohit also underlined the enthusiasm of the Indian migrant community which regularly follows the development in India and attempts to preserve Indian heritage for generations.

The High Commissioner said that during this visit of Prime Minister Modi, the foundation laid on the foundation laid during the second Indo-Karikom Summit held in Guyana last year will be pushed forward. Major areas of discussion include agriculture, information technology, health, pharmaceuticals and renewable energy, which expects concrete results.

He said that many ministers in the new government of Trinidad and Tobago are Indian origin, who are excited to carry forward the benefits of India’s development journey.

The first country to adopt Indian UPI

Rajpurohit mentioned that Trinidad and Tobago are the first country in the Caricom region, which has adopted the major UPI platform of India and its implementation process continues. This journey will be important towards promoting bilateral relations in areas like digital finance, renewable energy, health and IT.

Actually, Prime Minister Modi’s visit is part of the visit to five countries running from July 2 to 9. His visit in Trinidad and Tobago will strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, especially a new direction in the cooperation of digital finance, health, IT and innovation energy.
