Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the 150th Foundation Day program of the Indian Meteorological Department in New Delhi today. During this, PM will launch ‘Mission Mausam’ and release the document of IMD Vision-2047. The event has been named ‘Undivided India’.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has invited countries that were part of India when it was established 150 years ago. Apart from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives, countries of Middle East and South East Asia are also included.
Bangladesh will not attend the 150th Foundation Day celebrations of IMD. The officials there have taken this decision citing restrictions on non-essential foreign trips at government expense. At the same time, Pakistan has confirmed its participation in this program.
What is ‘Mission Mausam’? ‘Mission Mausam’ is a big plan to make the country weather-ready and climate-smart. It will use weather monitoring technology, including next-generation radar, satellites and high-performance computers. This initiative will help India mitigate the effects of climate change and better deal with natural disasters.
PM will release ‘IMD Vision-2047’ At this event, the Prime Minister will also release the IMD Vision-2047 document for climate change adaptation. Which will be helpful in making India climate friendly and implementing modern weather management system.
