PM modi virtually inaugurate airports in mp: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two important airports Satna and Datia Airport in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday (May 31, 2025). This historical occasion has opened a new door to air connectivity for Bundelkhand and Baghelkhand regions. This initiative is another strong step towards the goal of connecting the country’s remote and backward areas with air travel under the Central Government’s Udaan scheme.
Satna Airport: New air center of Eastern Madhya Pradesh
The Satna Airport developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at a cost of Rs 36.96 crore will now become an important connectivity hub for religious and industrial city like Chitrakoot and Maihar in eastern Madhya Pradesh.
The terminal building spread over 768 square meters has been built at Satna Airport, which has a capacity to handle 50 passengers at a time. There is a preparation to serve 2.5 lakh passengers annually from this airport. The airport has a suitable runway and apron for Dornier-228 aircraft and environmental measures like ATC towers, fire stations, LED lighting, solar street lights, water recycling have also been taken here.
Datia Airport: Gateway to Spirituality and Culture
Religious and historical sites like Advanced Datia Airport, Pitambara Peeth and Datia Mahal will be prominent on the aerial map of the country at a cost of Rs 60.63 crore.
A 768 square meter terminal building has also been constructed at Datia Airport. It has the capacity to handle 150 peak hours passengers. This airport is ready to operate the ATR-72 aircraft and there is a plan of A-320 aircraft in future from here. Modern facilities for ATC tower, fire stations, rainwater harvesting and energy conservation have also been given at this airport.
People will get cheap and Sull air travel facilities through both airports
The operation of these two airports will not only provide cheap and accessible air service to people, but it will also lead to widespread growth in the local economy, tourism, employment, and social sector. This will also speed up in areas like hospitality, education, retail, healthcare.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu attended the program organized at Datia Airport, while Minister of State for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Moho attended the program of Satna Airport. Apart from this, several senior officials were present including Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Deora, MOCA Secretary Sameer Kumar Sinha and Aai Chairman Vipin Kumar.
