Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Sri Lanka early next month to finalize the agreements made during Sri Lankan President Anura Kumar Disanayake’s visit to Delhi last year.
In Colombo, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijita Herath made this statement in response to a question on the discussion on budget allocation in Parliament. Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Herath said, ‘We have maintained close relations with our neighbor India. Our first diplomatic visit was from India, where we made several agreements on bilateral cooperation ‘.
PM Modi will visit Sri Lanka in April
He said, ‘Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will come here in early April’. Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijita Herath said, “During the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many new compromise memories will be signed in addition to the inauguration of Sampur Solar Energy Station. Government Electrical Unit Cylon Electricity Board and NTPC of India agreed to build a 135 MW solar power plant in Sampur city of East Tinkomali district in 2023.
PM’s fourth visit will be from 2015 onwards
Vijita Herath said, ‘We will remain neutral without taking anyone’s favor in our foreign policy and will work to maintain national interest’. This will be the fourth visit of Prime Minister Modi to Sri Lanka since 2015.
In the last years, Anura Kumara Disanayake won the 2024 election in Sri Lanka amid political and economic upset. This was the first presidential election after Sri Lankan’s bankruptcy, in which Marxist leader Disanayake won.
Sri Lanka is inhabited by a place in the Indian Ocean, which comes in the center of maritime trade. This country connecting West and East Asia has been trading at global level. Both China and India want to protect their presence here.
