Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a tour of Bihar and West Bengal on Friday (July 18, 2025), where he will launch development projects worth more than Rs 12,000 crore. The Prime Minister will also address public meetings in Motihari in Bihar and Durgapur in West Bengal during this visit.
PM Modi will launch projects worth Rs 7,200 crore in Bihar and Rs 5,000 crore in West Bengal, which will promote the connectivity of the region, infrastructure, employment, rural livelihood and digital innovation. PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects related to rail, road, IT, fisheries and rural development in Motihari. They will also flag off four Amrit Bharat Express trains connecting Pathana, Motihari, Darbhanga and Malda Town with cities like Delhi, Lucknow.
Bihar has a big gift of railway projects
Major railway projects in Bihar include the inauguration of automatic signaling on the Samastipur-Bachhwara line and doubling of Darbhanga-Thalawara and Samastipur-Rambhadrapur segment, which costs Rs 580 crore. Apart from this, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of railway projects worth Rs 4,080 crore, including Vande India Maintenance Facility and doubling of Darbhanga-Narkatiaganj line in Pataliputra.
PM Modi will launch the widening project of Ara bypass and Parria-Mohania section of NH-319 under road infrastructure, which costs Rs 820 crore and with its commencement, access to Delhi-Kolkata Golden Quadrilator will be improved.
Inauguration of Software Technology Parks of India
To promote Bihar’s digital economy, Prime Minister will inaugurate the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) facility in Darbhanga and an incubation center in Patna, which will boost start-ups and IT/ITES exports.
Fish fodder mills will also be launched
The Prime Minister will launch new facilities such as hatchery, aquaculture units and fish fodder mills for fisheries under the Matsya Sampada Yojana.
Apart from this, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the city gas distribution (CGD) project of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in Bankura and Purulia districts of West Bengal, which costs around Rs 1,950 crore. The project will provide PNG connection to homes, commercial installations and industrial customers and provide CNG at retail outlets.
Prime Minister Modi will dedicate Durgapur-Haldia natural gas pipeline and Bokaro-Dhamra pipeline to the nation, which is also known as Prime Minister Energy Ganga (PMUG) project.
