Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been surprising his fan following for the last seven days. On the first day of the New Year, he not only called Punjabi pop singer and Bollywood actor Diljit Dosanjh to his home and talked to him but also made reels and shared them on social media. Dosanjh has been a staunch opponent of Modi. During the farmers’ movement, he had opened a strong front against the Modi government.
Not only this, on December 25, Modi is seen praying to Lord Jesus on the occasion of Christmas and on January 2, he is also going to send a sheet to the court of the Khwaja of Ajmer. It is noteworthy that recently this Dargah was on the target of Hindu organizations. Hindu organizations say that a Hindu temple is buried beneath this dargah. A few days ago, he called Saif Ali Khan at home and asked about the well-being of his children and also told that he had met their father also. Whereas only 10 days ago Saif had spoken something against Modi. Modi’s staunch supporters are also angry with Saif Ali Khan because he had named his son after Taimur Lang, the brutal attacker on India.
Obviously, the changing personality of PM Narendra Modi may disappoint some of his supporters, but it will also increase the faith and trust in him among many of his supporters. Because these steps of PM make him the real leader of entire India. However, this was not the first time that he had gone to the church and sent a sheet for the Khwaja. Yet today the atmosphere of the country has changed. At such a time, let us see what is the meaning of this gesture of PM Modi.
1- Will Modi’s third term be known for making inroads among the opponents?
Narendra Modi is one of the most popular leaders of the country. He is the leader of the entire country. There is no discrimination against any religion in his policies. But he has been branded as a leader of Hindus. He has been continuously talking about Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, but when it comes to support, he does not get the support he expects from the Muslim and Christian communities.
It is being said that the way Modi has met Saif Ali and Diljit Dosanjh recently, it is under the same strategy so that BJP can make inroads among its opponents. It is also being said that some more such celebrities will reach the PM residence in the coming days. Obviously the PM wants his opponents to be forced to praise him.
Narendra Modi has also expressed his condolences by writing a letter on the death of journalist Sakshi Joshi’s mother. Whereas everyone knows that Joshi and her husband Vinod Kapri have been strong critics of PM Modi. Obviously everyone is liking this gesture of PM. Sakshi Joshi herself gave this information on her social media handle and expressed her gratitude towards the PM.
2-Is Modi not afraid of angering his staunch supporters?
The secret of BJP’s success after 2014 has been that the Bharatiya Janata Party became increasingly vocal regarding Hindu interests. The party came out openly regarding CAA-NRC, UCC, Waqf Board, prohibition of reservation for Muslims etc. The result was that many satraps in the states started trying to be more fanatical than the central leadership. Obviously, due to this, a feeling of insecurity was being created among the minorities in the country.
There can be no doubt that the gesture shown by Modi in the last 7 days will send a good message in the country and abroad. But isn’t Modi sensing its danger? A leader like Lal Krishna Advani was put on the backfoot only because out of good faith he had the courage to visit the tomb of Mohammad Ali Jinnah during his visit to Pakistan. Some people in the party may raise their voice in support of fanaticism. But Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which is like the parent of BJP, has itself opposed the incidents of finding temples in every mosque. Obviously, in this step of Narendra Modi, he would be getting the full support of the Sangh.
3-The intention to win the farmers movement and Delhi Assembly elections by calling Diljit.
For Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his 11 years in office, the things that would still pain him would include not being able to end the farmers’ movement and not forming BJP governments in Delhi and Punjab. PM Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party tried their best but could not win the hearts of the Sikh community. It is obvious that meeting Diljit will have some impact. It is also possible that Diljit may become a link in future for talks with Punjabi farmers. Similarly, there are about 12 percent Sikh votes in Delhi. BJP would like to use this meeting of Diljit to attract Sikh votes in its favor in the Delhi Assembly elections.
However, farmer leader Pandher has said that farmers are not happy with Diljit Dosanjh meeting PM Modi. Farmers say that Diljit should have come to support the farmers instead of meeting Modi. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal is on an indefinite fast for 38 days and Dosanjh should have gone to meet him.
4- Will ideology change on issues like UCC and Waqf Board?
Now the question arises that if PM Modi has become soft towards his opponents, is a change in his policies possible? Like UCC and Waqf Board are directly related to the minority class. The Muslim community is continuously opposing these two laws. As much as there is opposition, the mention of these two issues was continuously increasing in PM Modi’s speeches. So, should it be expected in the new year that these laws should be amended as per the demand of minorities or these laws should be postponed for a few days.
Journalist Dilip Mandal writes that ‘7 days of PM Narendra Modi: He celebrates Christmas in church. Respecting the Sikh religion, they celebrate Veer Bal Diwas, listen to Kirtan from Diljit Dosanjh, send a chadar to Ajmer Dargah and on New Year, by worshiping Lord Shri Ram, they pledge to make a developed India and implement the Uniform Civil Code.
It is possible that PM Narendra Modi is winning the trust of minorities only to bring the UCC and Waqf Board Bill. Mandal’s words cannot be denied.
