Pk mishra visit hal facility: Regarding the steady squadron of the Indian Air Force, now the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has also geared up. PMO Principal Secretary Dr. PK Mishra on Tuesday (8 July 2025) reviewed the LCA Tejas program by visiting Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility in Bengaluru.
HAL’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) project is running late due to the delay in getting aviation engines from the US. The way the Indian Air Force has played a decisive role during Operation Sindoor, the country is going to need advanced type of fighter aircraft in the near future. This is the reason that the PMO is very conscious about the needs of the Air Force.
‘Only 1 aviation engine from America so far’
According to HAL, Mishra visited LCA’s Tejas Assembly Hazar and Mark-2 version Hangar in Bengaluru. HAL told the most senior official of the PMO that at this time 6 fighter jets and 1 train of Mark-1A version of LCA are ready. For the LCA Mark-1A version, HAL has so far received an F-404 aviation engine from the US, while the total agreement is 99 engines. Secondly, F-414 engine agreement is awaited from the US for Mark-2 (and Stealth Fighter Jet Amka).
Mishra also took stock of HAL’s second indigenous aircraft, including Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachanda, Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), Light Advanced Helicopter (ALH) Dhrup and Hindustan Turbo Trainer (HTT-40).
ISRO Chairman Dr. V Narayan was also present
The Principal Secretary also reviewed the preparations for HAL for the Gaganyaan Mission. Here Mishra was given briefing about Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV). During this, HAL Chairman Dr. DK Sunil and ISRO Chairman Dr. V Narayan were also present. According to HAL, Mishra also inspected the integrated cryogenic engine manufacturing facility.
