Poetry’s 72-hour fast begins for BC reservation in Hyderabad, ‘This self-esteem fight’

Telangana Jagriti Chairman and BRS MLC Kalwukuntla Kavita started a 72 -hour fast at Dharna Chowk in Indira Park, Hyderabad, demanding 42 percent reservation for the BC community. This fast started on Monday (August 4, 2025) at 10 am and will run till Thursday (August 7, 2025). Kavita called this movement a fight for self -esteem of the BC community and said that she would not back down until the BC community gets their rights.

Kavita said, “Half of the population of Telangana is from the BC community. They should get 42 percent reservation in education, employment and local bodies. This is not a political fight, but a struggle of self -esteem of the BC community.” He demanded immediate action from the government on the basis of Kamaredy manifesto.

Kavita also demanded that 10 percent reservation should be implemented separately for the Muslim community. He said, “Congress should clarify that Muslim reservation will be kept separate from BC quota.”

Congress is trying to clean hands by imposing the matter on BJP- Kavita

Kavita accused the BJP government at the Center and the Congress government of the state of lax in implementing the BC reservation bill. He said, “The central government and the governor are not signing the bill and the Congress is trying to clean its hands by imposing it on the BJP.”

Giving the example of Tamil Nadu, he said that local body elections were not held for nine years, until the BC reservation was implemented. Kavita insisted, “Telangana Jagriti has always been agitating in a peaceful manner.” He sought permission from the government for a fast at Dharna Chowk and warned that if the permission is not received, I will continue the fast wherever I was taken home, hospital or police station. “Kavita called upon the BC community to unite and said that the local body elections should not be held until the BC gets their rights.
